QuikRead go CRP in primary care – NICE medtech innovation briefing

The British National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published a MIB on QuikRead go CRP test. The MIB provides a description of the QuikRead go CRP system, technology, including its likely place in therapy, the costs of using the technology and a critical review of the strengths and weaknesses of the relevant published evidence. The purpose of the briefing is to provide objective information on device and diagnostic technologies to aid local decision-making by healthcare pesonnel.

About the use of the QuikRead go CRP test the report states the following:
“The QuikRead go CRP test would be done at the point of care in primary care for people with suspected bacterial lower respiratory tract infection. It would be done by primary care clinicians during a consultation. The QuikRead go CRP test would only be used in conjunction with a clinical examination and clinical judgement to help inform the decision to prescribe antibiotics.”
