SMC® Technology
SMC technology provides maximum immunoassay performance while following a workflow similar to traditional ELISA technology, as shown below for dual-plex analysis. By combining a unique assay elution step and robust digital counting on the FemtoQuest system, SMC technology improves signal-to-noise ratios over traditional immunoassay technologies, enhancing quantification at both low and high levels of expression with one system. The FemtoQuest instrument can be used for measuring both single analyte and dual-plex assays.
Step 2-3
Antibodies translate each biomarker into a signal
Step 4
Fluorescent dye-labeled detection antibodies dissociate from the immunocomplex
Step 5
On the FemtoQuest instrument, signal is collected from free-floating fluorochromes using a rotating laser, camera, and counting individual molecules by an avalanche photodiode
Digital counting improves sensitivity and dynamic range
The FemtoQuest™ system captures all digital events counted above the background threshold. Using enhanced algorithms, digital events are computed across a spectrum of time series for a single standard. This digital counting of single molecules improves the assay sensitivity and extends the dynamic range beyond what can be achieved with traditional methods.
