A fully automated solution for Hepatitis E serology

  • Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is the most common cause of acute hepatitis in the world1.
  • Every year, there are an estimated 20 million HEV infections worldwide, leading to an estimated 3.3 million symptomatic cases of hepatitis E2.
  • WHO estimates that hepatitis E caused approximately 44,000 deaths in 2015 (accounting for 3.3% of the mortality due to viral hepatitis)2.
  • The virus is transmitted via the fecal-oral route, principally via contaminated water.
  • Hepatitis E is found worldwide, but the disease is most common in East and South Asia.

Vircell offers a fully automated solution for Hepatitis E serology on the VirClia instruments:

  • Hepatitis E IgG Avidity Monotest
  • Hepatitis E IgG Monotest
  • Hepatitis E IgM Monotest

The Vircell Hepatitis E VirClia IgM, IgG, and IgG avidity assays offer several advantages for detecting Hepatitis E virus (HEV) antibodies:

  • Comprehensive detection – Covers IgM for acute infections, IgG for past exposure, and IgG avidity to distinguish recent from past infections.
  • Fast results – Provides results within 1 hour, making it ideal for urgent samples.
  • Monotest format – Each test includes a calibrator and negative control, ensuring accurate validation.
  • Automated and simple protocol – Works with primary sample tubes, reducing manual handling.
  • High sensitivity and specificity – Delivers reliable detection of HEV antibodies.
  • First commercial avidity test – Helps confirm acute Hepatitis E infections, improving diagnostic accuracy.
  • No need to batch samples
